Novelty Woodworks is a one-person custom furniture shop in Novelty, Ohio, built on a simple belief: furniture should be handed down, not thrown out.
The maker
I've been woodworking for about eight years. During the day I'm a professional engineer — I hold a PhD in Mechanical Engineering — but evenings and weekends you'll usually find me in the shop. Every piece that leaves it, from a dining table down to a cutting board, is designed, cut, joined, and finished by me at one bench in Novelty, Ohio.
I'm building this woodworking business now, and I'd be glad to work with you on a custom piece.
Why “Novelty”
The name comes from my hometown — Novelty, Ohio, out in Geauga County. It's a small place, and the joke writes itself: there's nothing novel about what I do. Just good wood, sharp tools, time-tested joinery, and the patience to do it right. That's the whole philosophy, and it's stamped on everything that leaves the shop and heads out across Northeast Ohio.
